Full scalp SMP covers the entire scalp from the hairline to the crown. This technique creates the appearance of a cleanly shaved head. The tattooed dots blend with any remaining hair follicles. Full scalp SMP works for receding hairlines, advanced thinning, and fully bald scalps. The hairline is custom-designed and mapped directly on the scalp for client approval before any tattooing begins.

Density SMP for Thinning Hair

Density SMP targets areas of thinning hair from the hairline to the crown. Dots are placed around existing hair follicles to reduce the visible contrast between scalp skin and hair. The result is the appearance of thicker, denser hair without altering the client’s current hairstyle.

Density SMP gives a natural, low-maintenance result and allows more freedom with haircuts. The dots blend with existing follicles and are placed only where needed. If hair thinning is progressive, it may be worth considering full scalp SMP on a shaved head for a smoother long-term transition. Density tattooing produces a targeted fill pattern rather than the overall blended coverage of full scalp SMP.

Scalp scar concealment uses SMP techniques to tattoo hair follicle dots over existing scars on the scalp. The dots blend the scar with the surrounding skin and hair pattern. This service is ideal for concealing FUT (follicular unit transplantation) strip scars, FUE (follicular unit extraction) scarring, and other surgical or traumatic scars on the scalp.

Follow up appointments vary in timing depending on your skin type and how long your skin and ink take to “settle.” Ideally we can check in and see how you are progressing at the 8 week mark to assess when you could return for subsequent appointments.
I understand that the price of my procedure includes 1 appointment only. These services can require a few sessions (depending on your service) to ensure your results are optimal. Your follow up sessions build off of your healed results, layering your colouring to keep it natural looking, and any adjustments are made if needed.

Scalp Micropigmentation for Men and Women

Scalp micropigmentation is not limited to men. Women with pattern baldness, alopecia, thinning hair at the crown, or overall reduced hair density benefit from SMP. The female density procedure covers the scalp from hairline to crown, blending with existing hair follicles to create an under-layer that gives the appearance of a full head of hair.

For women with alopecia, SMP eliminates the need to manage consistent spot balding. The treatment blends seamlessly with longer hair and does not require a shaved head. SMP also conceals surgical scars and blends scarring at the temples.

For men, SMP addresses receding hairlines, thinning crowns, pattern baldness, and complete hair loss. The most common result is the appearance of a cleanly shaved head with a natural, age-appropriate hairline.

The Scalp Micropigmentation Process at Falcon Artistry

SMP at Falcon Artistry follows a multi-session process. Each appointment builds density progressively for the most natural result.

Photo Assessment & Custom Quote: Submit photos of your scalp by email to info@falconartistry.com. Candice reviews the level of hair loss and provides a custom quote with the estimated number of sessions required.
Hairline Design & Goal Discussion: At the first appointment, Candice reviews your goals and recommends a hairline shape suited to your natural hair pattern. A conservative, higher hairline is recommended initially. The hairline is drawn directly on the scalp and approved by you before any tattooing begins.
Session 1 - Foundation Layer: The first session establishes the base layer of dots across the treatment area. Approximately 3 hours per session. The initial layer sets the hairline shape, coverage pattern, and overall density framework.
Session 2 - Density Building: Scheduled approximately 2 weeks after session 1. The second session adds density, refines the hairline, and fills any areas that need additional coverage after healing. Sessions can be booked 2 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal between appointments.
Session 3 - Refinement: The third session finalizes the SMP by adding remaining density, perfecting the blend with existing hair follicles, and making any colour or placement adjustments based on healed results.
Optional Touch-Up: An additional touch-up session may be needed to achieve the final natural-looking result. Not all clients require a fourth session.

SMP Healing and Downtime

Scalp micropigmentation is non-invasive and requires no downtime. Clients do not need to take extended time off work, school, or other activities. Slight redness on the scalp is common for approximately 2 days after each session. Clients can wear a clean or new hat after treatment if desired.

Sessions are spaced approximately 2 weeks apart. This allows the skin to heal between appointments and shows how the dots blend with surrounding hair follicles before the next layer of density is added.

Specific aftercare instructions regarding sweating, scrubbing, shampooing, and shaving the treatment area are provided at the appointment. Following the aftercare protocol ensures the best healed results and pigment retention.

Custom Hairline Design for SMP

Every SMP appointment at Falcon Artistry includes a built-in consultation for hairline design. The hairline is drawn directly on the scalp so the client can see the proposed shape before any tattooing begins.

Candice recommends starting with a conservative, slightly higher hairline that complements the client’s natural hair pattern, face shape, and age. A conservative starting point allows the hairline to be adjusted and brought lower in subsequent sessions as the client becomes comfortable with the look.

No hairline tattooing begins without the client’s full approval on shape, placement, and colour. The hairline is one of the most visible elements of SMP. Candice’s fine art background ensures precise, natural-looking transitions from the hairline into the scalp.
