Saline Permanent Makeup Lightening

Strategic removal to lighten, shape, adjust, or remove unwanted tattoos.

How your appointment works

You are involved in every step of the process

  1. We start by going over your goals and how you’d like things to look

  2. I offer suggestions and show examples from past clients for reference

  3. I’ll map it directly on your body so you can see how it looks on you

  4. You approve the shape and the colour

  5. Once everything is approved by you, THEN we proceed with the tattoo

What is “Strategic Removal” with saline?

Depending on your case, your unwanted permanent makeup doesn’t have to be fully removed or tattooed over! If you have adjustments you’d like done to your existing work, strategic removal may be for you!

  • If your shape is good but they’re too dark, they can be lightened and an “ombre” effect can be acheived

  • If they’re too cool, dark or ash (grey), removal can make them lighter and warmer

  • If the arch is too severe or they need to be balanced through small areas of removal

Then you may be a candidate for strategic removal!

Strategic Removal then Brow Correction

Case Study:

Client wanted less harsh, dark and bold brows. There were also some tattooed lines outside of her brow shape. This is healthier for the skin as it doesn’t undergo full removal and then tattooing. It is more controlled and strategic.

  1. Because she wanted the shape adjusted, softened and warmed up, I focused on overall lightening.

  2. Focused on thinning out the shape, especially what would be outside the desired shape for the ideal outome.

  3. After removed enough, did a brow tattoo with colour correction.

  4. After the brows healed, we softened the front of the brow more to continue to shape it.

How does Saline Tattoo Removal work?

Falcon Artistry offers non-laser tattoo lightening services with a saline solution to help correct or remove permanent makeup and regular small tattoos. With Saline Tattoo Removal the ink is pushed to the surface as the scab is healing. Results show approximately eight weeks after a procedure and some tattoos will require multiple sessions. Sessions are rated at 90 mins. in length.

Ideal for removing permanent makeup or cosmetic tattoos- such as eyeliner corrections, eyebrows and overlined lips. (Lip tissue cannot be removed, so only the parts of the tattoos that were too far outside the lines can be removed/adjusted.)

Saline Tattoo Removal Frequently Asked Questions

  • Saline tattoo removal is a method of “tattooing” a saline solution into the unwanted tattoo to flush out the ink. As the skin heals, the ink continues to be pulled out and lightens in an ongoing manner. This method is ideal for permanent makeup and tattoos that would be negatively affected by laser removal. It is also the only safe solution for permanent eyeliner removal. Several sessions may be needed depending on the size of the tattoo and amount of pigment being removed.

  • Saline removal is ideal for smaller, delicate areas like around the eyes and certain areas of the mouth. Laser cannot be done near the eyes and has the potential to darken certain pigments (like camouflage tatoos, freckle tattoos, red tattoos.) However, if the area is larger, we can refer you to a laser removal clinic to help you.

  • The procedure feels like a tattoo. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible for the process. We do use topical anesthetic to help you with the sensation.

  • The number of sessions needed depends on several factors and varies from client to client. The tattoo’s size, age and location as well as the type, depth and color of pigment(s) used will make a difference.

  • We do not recommend Saline Tattoo Removal for Permanent Makeup migration. The saline can cause the pigment to spread further and we don’t want to create further problems.

  • A minimum of 8-10 weeks must pass before another session can be performed. The tattoo is still lightening during that period so it is ideal to let it heal adequately before booking in for a subsequent session.

  • Clients should be realistic in their expectations. They should expect a gradual lightening of the tattoo, as a full removal takes time and multiple sessions. After an initial session an assessment can be made to determine how many more sessions may help.
